February 5, 1941 in Morgantown, county of Monongalia in Virginia-Western, is an American actor in theater, cinema and television. He is particularly known for his roles as Quentin Collins in the Dark Shadows series (1968-1971), by Michael Tyrone in the Flamingo Road series and especially Richard Channing in the Falcon Crest series (from 1982 to 1990). He was later Dr. Arthur Foster in the Tell Me You Love Me series (2007).

A graduate of the second degree, the Théâtre Option Théâtre de la West Virginia University and a doctorate in philosophy of the Southern Illinois University, David Selby begins to know notoriety in the cinema in the role of the Loup Quentin Collins for more than 300 episodes of The Gothic series "Dark Shadows" (1968-1971). He then turned into the film suitable for cinema, Night of Dark Shadows (1971), then turned alongside Barbra Streisand in Up The Sandbox (1972) by Irvin Kershner. He then occasionally appears in a few series or television television such as Kojak.
