Don Cheadle was born in Kansas City but moved throughout his childhood. He attended CalArts and earned his BA in Fine Arts. He auditioned for many roles, and won a part on the television series "Fame" (1982). He was then cast in the John Irvin film Hamburger Hill (1987). He first became recognized in Devil in a Blue Dress (1995), which won him the Best Supporting Actor Award from the Los Angeles Film Critics. Cheadle is a highly respected actor who has won many awards and continues to act on both television movies and features, as well as in theater productions. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Originally from Kansas City where he was born on November 29, 1964 from a psychologist father and a bank responsible for bank, Don Cheadle, from the age of five, began to take an interest in the scene, through comedy and Jazz. After a musical and theatrical training during his high school years, he rushes into the second voice for his higher education, by integrating the Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. He then became known as a singer, composer and saxophonist in his hometown, and turns definitively to cinema even though he first only made brief apparitions in some productions of the time (Moving Violations in 1985) It was Hamburger Hill in 1987, and colors the following year, who really reveal it.

The year 2005 marks a decisive turning point in his career, since for the first time, he plays the first role of a great film, Hotel Rwanda, which earned him several prices and appointments. Building on this success, he moved on to the realization with an ambitious project: the adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel, Tishomingo Blues, where he stages himself alongside Matthew McConaughey.
