Biography for Lionel Stander

Born in 1908 in the poor districts of the Bronx, Lionel Stander, after a bonded passage by Broadway, played in front of a camera for the first time in 1932. This is the first of the 102 projects in which he will participate. He will become a second role actor very appreciated by his popular side, child of the people. He often plays the friend of the hero, resourceful, courageous, full of common sense, talkative and funny. In 1937, he stood out a little more in a Star was born with Janet Gaynor. Lionel Stander was an American actor born January 11, 1908 in New York, New York, the United States. He started his acting career in Broadway before becoming a movie and television actor. Stander was known for his imposing physique and his style of grumpy comedy, and he played in many films from the 1930s and 1940s, especially in comedies by Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

Stander has also played in more serious films, such as "those of Cordura" (1959) and "Le knife in the water" (1962), for which he received elegant criticism. He was also an actor of popular support in the 1960s and 1970s, appearing in television series such as "Hogan's Heroes" and "The Love Boat".

Apart from his acting career, Stander was also an active political activist. He was a member of the American Communist Party in the 1930s and 1940s, and was blacklisted during part of his career because of his political beliefs. However, he continued to work as an actor and engage in social and political causes until his death in 1994.
