Biography for Judith Light

Judith Light (born Judith Ellen Licht on February 9, 1949) is an American actress, best known for her role as Angela Bower on Who's the Boss?.

Light first found fame on television by replacing Julia Duffy in the role of Karen Wolek on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. This role was quite lucrative for Light, and spurned one of the show's most-remembered storylines; Light's character became a prostitute after she became bored with her life as a housewife. On trial, Karen saved her friend from being convicted of killing her pimp by admitting that she had been a prostitute to the entire town, including her faithful husband. Light won Daytime Emmy Awards in 1980 and 1981.

This star power allowed her to snag a lead role on the ABC sitcom Who's the Boss? The role turned out to be Light's most easily-identifiable. She played the role of the assertive advertising executive Angela Bower from 1984 to 1992 and can still be seen in this role in syndication on channels such as Nick at Nite.

She has become a gay rights activist after helping former Who's the Boss? star Danny Pintauro cope with his sexuality. Light was also the former spokesperson for Proactiv anti-acne solution.

Born in 1949 in New Jersey, Judith Light finds her first role in the Soap One Life to Live, in 1977. She left the show in 1983, to become the mistress of the house in Madame is served. In 1993, she found a role in the Phenom series. Between the two series, she will have played in half a dozen TV movies. Married since 1985, the actress does not go beyond projects preferring to take care of her family. So she bounces from TV movies to telefilms even if she had tried to return to the small screen with an aborted series, The Simple Life. In 1999, she replied to Charlton Heston, Vanessa Redgrave, Donald Sutherland and… Ophélie Winter, in Toscano de Dan Gordon.

Judith Light is an American actress known for her roles in many theater, television and cinema productions. She was born on February 9, 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey.

Light began her career as an actress in the mid -1970s, playing in theatrical productions in New York. She won numerous awards for her performances on stage, including a Tony Award for her role in the play The Ritz in 1975 and another in 2012 for her performance in Other Desert Cities.

Light has also played in many films and television series over the years. She is probably better known for her roles in the Who's The Boss series? and Ugly Betty. In the first, she played Angela Bower, a single mother and director of advertising, while in the second, she interpreted Claire Meade, the rich and eccentric mother of a main character.

In addition to her many successes as an actress, Light is also engaged in humanitarian causes and is a LGBTQ+activist. She was appointed "Ambassador of Bon will" for the fight against AIDS by the UN in 1989, and received the Glsen Prize for her work in favor of the equal rights of LGBTQ+ people in 2013.

In summary, Judith Light is a talented and committed actress who has had a long and prolific career in the world of entertainment. Her passion for social justice and her contributions in favor of the LGBTQ+ community have also made her an important figure in the struggle for human rights.
