Raised in Toronto, Ontario.

Graduated from the University of Windsor's school of dramatic art.

Of the other four original "Stargate SG-1" (1997) regulars, she is the only one who did not meet and/or work with Richard Dean Anderson before the series began.

Appeared in episodes entitled "Avatar" of two different TV series': "The X Files: Avatar (#3.21)" (1996) and "Stargate SG-1: Avatar (#8.6)" (2004).

Is a spokesperson for UNICEF.

Before her role on "Stargate SG-1" (1997), she appeared in many commercials including ones for Choclairs (chocolate bar), Folger's "Singles" and Advil.
