Tyne Daly began her career by making various appearances in series in the 1960s and 1970s. She also turned a lot of TV movies. It was in 1982 that she became famous thanks to her role as detective Mary Beth Lacey in the Cagney & Lacey series. For this role, she won four Emmy Awards as the best actress in a television series. The series stopped in 1988. In 1994, Tyne Daly was back in the Chrysty series, which will last two years on the American channel CBS. For this role, she won an Emmy Award as the best actress in a supporting role in a television series.

In 1999, she returned to the Amy series which was a great success on the CBS channel.

Tyne Daly is an American actress born on February 21, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin. She is best known for her role in the television series "Cagney and Lacey" in the 1980s, for which she won four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the role of Mama Rose in the musical "Gypsy" in 1989.

Daly began her career as an actress in the 1960s, playing in theater productions in New York. She made her cinema debut in 1969 in the film "The Gypsy Moths" and continued to play in films such as "The Enforcer" (1976), "The Competition" (1980) and "Stick" (1985).

She was escorted by her longtime friend, former "Cagney & Lacey" co-star John Karlen, to the 2003 Emmy Awards. After Ms. Daly won the Emmy (for her role as "Maxine" on Judging Amy), Mr. Karlen gave her a hug and kiss which was caught on camera during the TV broadcast. Ms. Daly then went on to pay a brief but warm tribute to Mr. Karlen in her acceptance speech.

Won Broadway's 1990 Tony Award as Best Actress (Musical) for a revival of "Gypsy."
