Synopsis

The inhabitants of Colorado Springs see their lives upset by the arrival of Doctor Michaela Quinn. His strength of character and his tenacity will help him face the prejudices of the community by becoming the figurehead of this small town in the west of the United States.

Doctor Quinn, woman doctor (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman in English) was an American television series broadcast between 1993 and 1998. The series took place in the American West of the 19th century and followed the story of Michaela Quinn, a young woman Doctor who leaves Boston to settle in the small town of Colorado Springs as a country doctor. It has to face challenges such as prejudices towards women doctors and cultural differences between city dwellers and the inhabitants of the city.

The series was greeted for its realistic approach to life in the American West and for its strong and independent main character. The role of Michaela Quinn was interpreted by actress Jane Seymour, who won a Golden Globe for her performance. The series also received several other awards, including an Emmy Award and a People's Choice Award.

In addition to following the adventures of Michaela Quinn as a doctor, the series also highlighted the complicated relationships between the white settlers and the Indian tribes, as well as the challenges that women were confronted at that time. The secondary characters included Michaela's husband, Sully, a trapper and a friend of the Indians, as well as their adopted son, the little Brian.

Doctor Quinn, a doctor, was broadcast for six seasons, with a total of 150 episodes. The series was very successful with viewers and has been broadcast in many countries around the world. She also inspired several spin-offs, including a children's television series entitled Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: The Movie.
