Daktari was an American television series broadcast between 1966 and 1969. It was produced by Ivan Tors and inspired by the life of the American veterinarian Joy Adamson, famous for her work with the Lions in the wilderness of Kenya. The series featured Dr. Marsh Tracy, an American veterinarian who directed an animal park in Africa with the help of his daughter Paula, his assistant Judy, a young orphan boy named Jackie and a chimpanzee named Judy. The series tackled subjects such as fauna conservation, animal protection and the fight against poaching.
