Trivia

It all started in 1974 ... After the broadcast of the western "Bonanza" which met with great success (among others thanks to the help of Michael Landon), the American television company plans to make a 2 -hour telefilm, in the same Style that this western, that is to say centered on the life of a family, with its joys and sorrows.

This film would be based on the Best Sellers series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, "Little House" published between 1932 and 1971. The film, directed by Michael Landon, is therefore born in 1974 and is called "Little House on the Prairie "In its original version. This TV-Film tells the story of a young family of pioneers, who, after the civil war, finds himself in a small house in Kansas. At the end of the story, the family must leave the place under the order of the government, and start a new life elsewhere.

Bet held, the TV movie wins a good audience, but viewers remain hungry since the story ends in fish tail. Many wonder how this family (Ingalls) will go back to a new life.

It was then followed by the television series, known today of all, and broadcast worldwide. In the first episode, we learn that the Ingalls finally settled in a small village in Minnesota: Walnut Grove. And for almost 10 years, viewers will be able to follow the adventures of their favorite family on the small screen ... Throughout these seasons, it is Michael Landon who holds the rudder of the series, being the executive producer, By writing certain scenarios, but also by playing the role of Charles Ingalls, the father. You should know that at the start, it was not Michael Landon who was responsible for the role of Charles Ingalls, but another actor. The latter having had an impediment during the shooting of the first episode, Michael Landon took his place.

The series should have ended in 1982. Indeed, the last episode of the 8th season tells us that Charles and Caroline Ingalls must leave Walnut Grove and sell their house to the Carter family. But viewers do not want to stop there ... Faced with the success of the series, the producers decide to leave for a new season, to start everything again, and to name the series "La Petite Maison in La Prairie: a new start" . Exit Charles & Caroline Ingalls ... They are replaced by the Carter ... The story remains focused on Laura Ingalls and most of the characters (and actors) continue to turn the soap.

Unfortunately, these new episodes do not please and the audience only falls, despite some appearances by Charles Ingalls and Nellie Oleson in "Guest-Star" in certain episodes.

"The little house in the meadow: a new start" is therefore deleted from the NBC programs grid, without there being really an end. To close everything, 3 TV movies are produced. The first, shot in 1983, is centered on Albert Ingalls.

The second was carried out during the spring of 1984 and shows the destruction of Walnut Grove.

This telefilm was the last shot, but in December 1984, the NBC broadcasts an episode which had been shot previously, but never broadcast on television. This episode takes place at Christmas and shows the kidnapping of Rose Ingalls, Laura's daughter.

The rights of the series are now held by Aaron Spelling, the producer of "The cruise is having fun", "Melrose Place", "Beverly Hills", ...

A new feature film is in development at Universal Pictures in order to perpetuate all that Laura Ingalls Wilder (the original author) and Michael Landon (the director) have built ...

Shannen Doherty made her debut in this soap.

The wooden house (the "little house") in which the soap was turned recently. Melissa Gilbert declared herself very sad about this because she attached a lot of memories there.

Victor French died of lung cancer, his friend Michaël Landon of pancreatic cancer 2 years later. The actors Kevin Hagen and Steve Tracy also died.

Many actors or extras of "La Petite Maison in La Prairie" are now famous for other films. Thus Madeleine Stowe, a blind painter in one of the episodes, is known for having played in "the army of the twelve monkeys", with Bruce Willis.
