Synopsis

The life of a group of couples and friends, from the "baby boom" generation of the 1950s, and nicknamed in the 80s "generationpub".

Generation PUB (Thirtysomehing in English) is an American television series broadcast between 1987 and 1991 on the ABC network. The series follows a group of friends in the thirties who live in Philadelphia and cross the challenges of adult life, such as marriage, children, work and relationships.

The main characters in the series are Michael Steadman, an advertiser, and his wife, Hope, an artist. They have two children, Janie and Jamie. Their group of friends includes Gary Shepherd, an architect, and his wife, Ellyn, a lawyer. There is also Melissa Steadman, Michael's sister, and her husband, Elliot Weston, an actor.

The series was praised for its realistic realization and its sensitive approach to the problems of daily life. She won an Emmy Award for the best scenario in 1988 and was appointed for many other prizes.

Although the series was canceled in 1991 after four seasons, it continued to have a strong influence on the television series that followed, in particular those which were created by producers of PUB generation, Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. In addition to their work on Generation Pub, Herskovitz and Zwick have also produced series like My So-Called Life, Relativity and Once and Again.

Trivia

The first series of a duo of amazing creators, having worked for the most realistic series of our time, since they will then offer masterpieces such as "Angela 15 years", or "Once & Again - Second Chance ".

Among the actors of this show, we can see Peter Horton (future "Damné" of the homonymous series), Terry Kinney (future McManus of the prison of "Oz") or even Ken Olin (who will become Roger in the series "L.A. Docs ").

"ThirtySomehing" is an astonishing series in many points, in the sense that, although having never encountered exceptional audience rates, it has however managed to last for 4 seasons.

Amazing also to the extent that it offered, in relation to the other contents of the series of the time a subject of a - a priori - distressing banality, the heroes of this one having, and doing nothing exceptional. And, even in the treatment of such a subject, she still managed to amaze by including scenes of delectable humor, "shots" referring to genres of films of yesteryear (the film Noir, with our heroes covered The private detective waterproof, ...), which ultimately made this series an extraordinary product, but so endearing.

The series is also called "our best years".
