Flashpoint was a Canadian-American police television series which was broadcast from 2008 to 2012. The series followed the members of an elite unit of the Toronto Police Service, the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), which intervened in situations of extreme emergency. The members of the SRU unit were experts in negotiation and management of crises, and they were ready to take risks to protect the life of innocent people and put an end to dangerous situations.

Flashpoint was a suspense series, which often staged situations of hostage taking and armed interventions. The main characters in the series were experienced police officers, who had to face difficult choices in their dangerous work. The series was very popular and has won numerous prizes, including a Gemini Award for the best dramatic series.

One of the main characters in Flashpoint was police officer Ed Lane, performed by Hugh Dillon. Ed was a sniper and the leader of the SRU unit, and he was known for his professionalism and his determination. Another important character was the police officer Jules Callaghan, performed by Amy Jo Johnson. Jules was an expert in negotiations and defusing bombs, and she was often responsible for managing the most difficult situations.

The Flashpoint series has been broadcast on the CBS network in the United States and the CTV channel in Canada. It was created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, and produced by Canwest Global and Pink Sky Entertainment. The series was filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and it was much appreciated for its realistic representation of the life of the police and their interventions in emergency situations.
