The private detective Dan Tanna travels the illuminated streets of Las Vegas at the wheel of his T-Bird 1957 convertible red (a real kinette trap ...).

The charming smile and the tight jeans, he seems to know everyone, including celebrities (Editor's note: the Vega $ series even seems to have the record for appearances of the stars of the time playing their own role in a television series)

Although his office is installed in the casino that Philip Roth has, he has no exclusivity contract and often works for charming young ladies in distress ...

Assisted by his two secretaries, Béatrice La Futée and Angie La Sourde-Muette, he can also count on his 44 Magnum and the help of his two friends from Vietnam, Harlon and Costigan, as well as on occasion, on the Sergeant Bella Archer of the Las Vegas police.

Yet Dan Tanna is not unanimous and he must often avoid Lieutenant David Nelson who has a tooth against him.

Vega $ is an American television series which was broadcast for the first time in 1978. The series takes place in Las Vegas, in the state of Nevada, and follows the adventures of Dan Tanna, an eccentric private detective which solves inquiries in The City of Games.

Tanna is a former navy who left the army to settle in Las Vegas and open her own detective cabinet. He is equipped with a flashy red sports car, the "Vegas Visitor", and he is accompanied by his friend and partner, Benny Southstreet. Tanna is also helped by Bea Simmons, a family friend who works as a standard player in the casino where she has useful contacts to provide her information on suspects and business.

Tanna's investigations lead him in all corners of the city, where he faces criminals of all kinds, from crooks to assassins via casinos thieves. He uses his intelligence and combat skills to thwart the plans of his enemies and protect the citizens of Las Vegas.

Over the episodes, Tanna falls in love with several women, including a famous actress and a powerful businesswoman. He also has conflicts with his local police colleagues, who do not always take him seriously because of his unconventional lifestyle.

Despite her faults, Tanna is a tenacious and loyal detective who will do everything to resolve the business entrusted to her and protect the innocent people of Las Vegas. The series was very popular during its broadcast and was broadcast for four seasons until 1981.

Just before this show premiered, Robert Urich briefly appeared as Dan Tanna at the end of an episode of "Charlie's Angels" (1976) entitled "Angels in Vegas". Supposedly Dan was a friend of Charlie and Bosley.

Dan's pet name for Phillip Roth was "Slick".
