. Charles's last name is never mentioned on the show - in fact, sometimes the writers went out of their way to avoid mentioning his (or his mother's) surname.

. Ellen Travolta, who plays Charles's mother Lillian, previously played Charles "Chachi" Arcola's mother in "Happy Days" (1974) and "Joanie Loves Chachi" (1982). Both Charleses were played by Scott Baio.

. Originally broadcast for a year on CBS (October 1984-July 1985), then went to first-run syndication starting in January 1987.

. The location and name of the college at which Charles and his friends were students was not specified until the show moved from CBS to syndication, at which time it was revealed that Charles attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
