Remington Steele - Trivia

. The show was originally canceled in 1986 due to low ratings. However, the subsequent announcement that Pierce Brosnan was the prime candidate for the part of James Bond lead many viewers to watch Remington Steele during its primetime reruns that summer. The ratings increased, leading NBC to bring back the series for one more season, and causing Brosnan to lose the James Bond role to Timothy Dalton.

. During the run of the series, Pierce Brosnan was not only touted as the next James Bond, but he was also mentioned in published reports as being considered to star in a theatrical version of The Saint. This project never materialized.

. Originally, the character of Remington Steele was supposed to by a mere figurehead, comic relief to be used in support of star Stephanie Zimbalist. Bronsnan became so popular and had such presence, that his part became more significant.

. The surprise renewal of the series for 1986-87 cost Stephanie Zimbalist a role in RoboCop (1987).

. At the beginning of each episode, the episode title was displayed. All episode titles featured the word Steele: "Molten Steele", "Small Town Steele" and so on.

. Writer 'Glen Gordon Caron' left this series to create "Moonlighting" (1985), another series about a pair of bickering detectives.
