La Biographie de Roddy McDowall
Vedette simienne de "La Planète des singes" dans le rôle de Cornélius, Roddy McDowall est intimement lié à la saga. En effet, il reprendra son rôle de singe (Cornélius puis Caesar) dans trois autres films de la série ("Les Evadés de la planète des singes", "La Conquête de la planète des singes" et "La Bataille de la planète des singes"), laissant sa place à David Watson sur "Le Secret de la planète des singes", car attaché à un autre projet. Il apparaîtra toutefois dans ce second volet, à travers un prologue reprenant une séquence de "La Planète des singes". Roddy McDowall se glissera une nouvelle fois dans la peau d'un singe (cette fois-ci prénommé Galen) en 1974 dans la série "La Planète des singes", puis dans le téléfilm "Back to the planet of the apes" en 1981.
Roddy McDowall était un acteur britannique né le 17 septembre 1928 à Londres, en Angleterre. Il a été actif dans le monde du cinéma et de la télévision pendant plus de cinq décennies, et il était surtout connu pour ses rôles dans des films tels que L'Île au trésor, Le Livre de la jungle, Planet of the Apes et Fright Night.
McDowall a commencé sa carrière d'acteur très tôt, à l'âge de trois ans, en jouant dans des films britanniques. Il a ensuite fait ses débuts à Hollywood en 1938 dans un film intitulé How Green Was My Valley, pour lequel il a été nominé aux Oscars du meilleur second rôle. Au cours de sa carrière, il a continué à jouer dans de nombreux films et séries télévisées, et il est devenu l'un des acteurs les plus populaires et les plus respectés de sa génération.
En plus de ses talents d'acteur, McDowall était également un photographe accompli et un collectionneur de films. Il était passionné par le cinéma et il a consacré une grande partie de sa vie à l'étude et à la préservation de l'histoire du cinéma. Il a également été un militant actif pour les droits des animaux et il a été membre de nombreuses organisations caritatives en faveur des animaux.
Malheureusement, McDowall est décédé en 1998 à l'âge de 70 ans, mais son héritage en tant qu'acteur et passionné de cinéma continue de vivre grâce à ses nombreuses réalisations et à l'impact qu'il a eu sur le monde du cinéma.
