Lies can cause a lot of trouble, as Cheryl and Archie learned in the latest episode of Riverdale. The secret they kept almost turned their world upside down. The parents of Riverdale High will do anything to keep things sweet in the town. “Chapter One Hundred Twenty-One: Love and Marriage” was an interesting example of how the 1950s mindset mixed with the flair of soap opera drama and mystery of Riverdale.
Cheryl and Archie’s lie spiraled out of control, becoming an example of how lies can lead to more trouble. Their parents were shocked when they found out that they were getting married while they were still in high school. The devotion Archie had for Cheryl was not entirely healthy, but he was willing to help her without any conditions. Their relationship developed into a deep romantic friendship, showing that they cared for each other and were willing to recognize that marriage was not meant for them.
Meanwhile, Alice reached new lows, calling Kevin’s sexuality “a phase” and manipulating Betty’s love life. She even sent Ethel to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy. However, Julian Blossom showed some empathy and did the bare minimum to save Ethel’s life. Betty finally found out that Kevin likes boys, and they both found comfort in their friendship.
The episode also saw Jughead and Veronica kiss, which was a surprise for fans. They had chemistry and played off each other well, and it will be interesting to see where their relationship goes.
