Biography for Donald Moffat

Tall, imposing stage and screen actor who has been appearing with greater frequency on the big screen over the last several years. Equally adept at comic or dramatic roles, he is often cast as an authority figure. Among his credits: Rachel, Rachel (1968), Earthquake (1974), H.E.A.L.T.H (1979), Popeye (1980), The Thing (1982), Alamo Bay (1985), The Best of Times (1986), Music Box (1989), Class Action (1991), HouseSitter (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994). He has done three films for director Philip Kaufman:The Great Northfield, Minnesota Raid (1972), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988, as Daniel Day-Lewis' superior in the Czech hospital), and, most memorably, The Right Stuff (1983), in a broad caricature of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Moffat has also logged frequent appearances on TV.
