He starred in the TV series Dempsey & Makepeace and Dinotopia, the movie FM and the plays Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie, and Jerry Springer - The Opera. He narrates the American version of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

Micheal is married to actress Glynis Barber, with whom he co-starred in Dempsey & Makepeace.

He also played in films such as "The Streets of San Francisco" and "The China Syndrome".

Brandon is also known for his roles in British theater productions, especially in "La Cage aux Folles" and "Chicago". He won an Olivier Award for his performance in "La Cage aux Folles" in 1984. In addition to his acting career, Brandon is also a film producer and director.
