Kurt Kasznar is an American actor of Austrian origin born August 13, 1913 in Vienna (Austria), died August 6, 1979 in Santa Monica (California).

Kurt Kasznar was an Austrian actor, born August 12, 1913 in Vienna in Austria-Hungary and died on August 6, 1979 in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. He is mainly known for playing the role of Ludwig Müller in the musical The Sound of Music in 1959.

Kasznar began his acting career in Austria before the Second World War, where he played in many plays and films. In 1938, he had to leave Austria to escape Nazi persecution against the Jews, and settled in the United States.

He continued to play in plays and films in Hollywood, especially in films such as Adventure in Panama (1951), Lili (1953), and the buttons war (1962). He also appeared in television series such as Gunsmoke, The Twilight Zone and The Wild Wild West.

In addition to his role in The Sound of Music, Kasznar is also known for having played the role of Friedrick Zeller in the Broadway musical, She Loves Me. He was also nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the play Theater The Happy Time in 1950.

Kasznar was also a producer and a theater director, and wrote and produced his own play, The Dream of St. Bernard, in 1967.

In 1979, Kasznar died of a heart attack at the age of 65. His acting career has left an indelible imprint on the world of theater and cinema, and he is still considered one of the greatest actors of his time.
