Nia Peeples was born in Hollywood, California, on December 10, 1961. She grew up in West Covina with her parents and two sisters, Paula and Cynthia. At eight years old she began performing with her family, giving concerts for community groups and conventions and doing dances of different cultures, Polynesian, Spanish and Irish. She attended West Corvina High School and was an "A" student and a member of the marching band, involved in cheerleading, tumbling, volleyball, student government, choral singing and singing for a rock 'n roll band. She starred in the school production of "South Pacific" as Bloody Mary. She got her first standing ovation for her performance.

She attended UCLA on a music scholarship, during which time she performed as Liberace's opening act in Las Vegas on weekends. She took one semester as a voice major. She dropped out of UCLA and took three jobs in order to afford acting lessons. She studied singing with Gloria Rush and the Sanford Meisner acting technique at Playhouse West.

She accompanied a friend to a rehearsal one day and was spotted by the producers, who cast her in the play, "Music Shop". This led to guest appearances in such TV seriews as "Hardcastle and McCormick" (1983)_ and "T.J. Hooker" (1982)_ . Her first starring role came when she played a deaf girl opposite William Atherton in the HBO film _Single Light, A (1981)_ in which she portrayed a deaf girl. She auditioned for and won the part of Nicole Chapman in the series "Fame" (1982). Her hobbies include hiking, tandem surfing, rollerblading and skiing. She also does a lot of charity work. She is of Scottish/Filipino descent.

Nia Peeples grew up in Western Covina (California) with her parents and two seours, Paula and Cynthia. Nia Peeples went to the Western high school in Corvival and was a good student and on average "A". She was a member of the walking band, involved in Cheerleading, Tumbling, Volleyball, Student Government, singing in a choir and singing in a strip of bearing. She went to study music at UCLA on a sclolastic scholarship and during this time she has performed as an act of opening from Liberace to Las Végas on weekends. She studied song for Gloria's precipitation and the temporary technique of Sandfort Meisner west of Playhouse.

During the 1990s, Peeples continued to play in television and cinema productions, notably the Fatal Instinct films, National Lampoon's Last Resort and The Flontstones. In 1999, she joined the cast of the Pretty Little Liars series, in which she played the role of Pam Fields, the mother of one of the main characters. She also played in the series The Young and the Restless of CBS, in which she interpreted the character of Portia Ranson.

In addition to her acting career, Peeples is also a singer and released several albums during her career. It is also involved in charitable causes, especially as a spokesperson for the American Heart Association.
