Biography for Ron Perlman

Ron Perlman, a classically trained actor, has appeared in countless stage plays. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Opal, and his two children, Blake and Brandon. He was born in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York. His mother Dorothy still lives there and is retired from City Clerk's Office. His father, now deceased, was a repair man and drummer with Artie Shaw's Band.

While he has never been a bankable star, Perlman has always had a large fan-base. He started out strong as Amoukar, one of the tribesmen in Jean-Jacques Annaud's Guerre du feu, La (1981), for which he got a Genie nomination. Perlman teamed up with Annaud again in '86, this time as a hunchback named Salvatore in Name der Rose, Der (1986).

His first real breakthrough came later, when he landed the role of Vincent, the lion-man, opposite Linda Hamilton in the cult-series "Beauty and the Beast" (1987). His work in this role earned him not only a Golden Globe Award, but a huge fan following.

After that, he spent time working on independent films such as Sleepwalkers (1992), The Adventures of Huck Finn (1993), Cronos (1993), and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's surreal Cité des enfants perdus, La (1995). He returned to mainstream films in Alien: Resurrection (1997) and in 2004, his good friend Guillermo del Toro helped him land the title role in the big-budget comic book movie Hellboy (2004).

Perlman has played everything from a prehistoric tribesman to a good-hearted Colonel, and will always be a rarity in Hollywood.

His other films include The Last Supper (1995), The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996), I Woke Up Early the Day I Died (1998), Titan A.E. (2000), Enemy at the Gates (2001), Blade II (2002), and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).

A graduate in fine arts of the University of Minnesota, Ron Perlman began his career on the boards of New York, his hometown. It was in 1981 that he stood out on the big screen with an almost-ups in the fire war by Jean-Jacques Annaud. His "mouth" made a new strong impression in the name of the rose of the same Annaud five years later.

In 1993, the actor collaborated with an unknown Mexican director, Guillermo del Toro, on the Fantastic Cronos film, then continues with a small role in Romeo Is Bleeding by Peter Medak. A expiatory victim of the ultimate supper (The Last Supper) in 1995, Ron Perlman crosses the Duo Caro-Jeunet the same year in the city of lost children where his inimitable physique is still shiver. Two years later, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, this time solo, appeals again to go and face the Alien aliens, the resurrection (Alien: Resurrection), after the parenthesis of the island of Doctor Moreau Frankenheimer (1996).

More discreet in the years that followed, Ron Perlman made a small cameo for Ken Loach in Breg and Roses in 2000 and lent his voice to one of the heroes of Titan A.E. the same year. A year later, he found Jean-Jacques Annaud under Russian uniform in the middle of the Battle of Stalingrad (Enemy at the Gates), then joined the universe of Guillermo Del Toro in 2002 with Blade II.

Ron Perlman is an American actor born April 13, 1950 in New York, New York. He is best known for his roles in the films "Beauty and the Beast" (1987), "Alien: Resurrection" (1997), and "Hellboy" (2004) and his vocal performance in the television series "Adventure Time" (2010 ). Perlman also played in theater productions and made appearances in television shows such as "Law & Order" and "The X-Files". He won a Golden Globe for his role in the television series "Sons of Anarchy" (2008-2014) and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his performance in the "The Normal Heart" miniseries (2014). In addition to his acting career, Perlman is also a writer and a film producer.
