Biography for Merlin Olsen

Born on September 15, 1940, Merlin Olsen was a former American football player, playing first for the Utah State University and from 1962 to 1976 for Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League . In 15 years of NFL career, Merlin Olsen did not miss any match.

After his retirement as a player, he worked as a sports commentator on Tamdem television with Dick Enberg on NBC covering AFCTOUT throughout the 80s. He also had success as an actor (especially for his regular role in the Small house in the meadow) and as a spokesperson for the Fédération des Floristes and also for advertising films.

Merlin Olsen is a former American football player and sports commentator who was born on September 15, 1940 in Logan, Utah. He played university football at Brigham Young University, where he was appointed attacking player of the year in 1960. He was then selected in the first round by the Los Angeles Rams at the NFL Draft of 1962, and he played For the team for fifteen seasons, from 1962 to 1976.

After ending his player career, Olsen became a sports commentator for CBS Sports and NBC Sports. He was a member of the team of commentators of the Sunday evening game on NBC for twenty years, from 1979 to 1999. He also presented the university football program "College Football on NBC" for many years, and he was One of the most respected and popular commentators on sports television in the United States.

In addition to his career in football and sports television, Olsen was also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame. He was also elected in the Utah State University Athletic Hall of Fame, and he has received many other prizes and distinctions for his work in football.

Unfortunately, Olsen died on March 10, 2010, at the age of 69, after prostate cancer. His death was largely deplored by football enthusiasts and sports fans in general, who considered him one of the greatest players and football commentators of all time.
