Biography for Brian Keith

Son of character actor Robert Keith and actress Helen Shipman. Grew up on the road with his parents, who toured in plays. Appeared at age 3 in film Pied Piper Malone (1924) with his father. Began acting in radio programs and on stage before World War II. Joined the Marines and served as a machine gunner. Returned to Broadway stage after the war and branched into television and film. Worked as an extra in several films before achieving speaking roles and subsequent stardom.

Brian Keith was born in Bayone, New Jersey, November 14, 1921. He often played in westerns, then in several TV series, including "A Family Affair", "Michner's Centennial", then "The judge and the pilot" .

1997 is a bad year for him: at the age of 75, he suffered from lung cancer, he knows big financial concerns, and must face the suicide of his daughter (it was his only child, Because he had a son who died very young).

Brian Keith committed suicide by shooting himself in his head to his domicile of Malibu, the same year.

He also played in many television series, notably in "Le Fusilier de la Marine" (1953-1954), "Le Virginien" (1962-1971) and "A formidable family" (1971-1976), where he played the Character of Bill Davis, a single father who raises his children alone after the death of his wife.

Buried in Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

At the time of his death, he was dealing with terminal respiratory illness and the recent suicide (gunshot) of his daughter, Daisy, only ten weeks prior.
