Richard Basehart came to Hollywood in 1947 after starting his acting career in Broadway.

He started in the cinema in black films like "He Walked by Night" and notably filmed in "La Strada" by Fellini.

He participated in various TV series like "Columbo", "Gunsmoke" or "Joe Forrester" and shared the show with David Hedison in the series "Voyage to the bottom of the seas" by Irwin Allen.

Richard Basehart was an American actor who played in many films and television series during his long career. He was born on August 17, 1914 in Zanesville in Ohio, and died on September 17, 1984 in Los Angeles, California.
