Originally, it was actress Loretta Swit (fire lips, in the series "Mash"), which postulated for the role of Christine Cagney. There was then a question of Mag Foster in the role, before, for the series as we know it, Sharon Gless does not fall asleep.

The series was one of the first to make a social dimension and family problems with the life of police officers in the "big apple". Many awards (actresses, scenarios, realization, editing, sound, ...) will enamel the career of this series, which was extended a few years later from a series of 4 TV movies.
