Synopsis

This series puts the events of Ben Cartwright and his three sons who run a Ranch, the Ponderosa, in Nevada in the middle of the 19th century.

Bonanza is an American television series which was broadcast from 1959 to 1973 on the NBC channel. The series was created by David Dortort and tells the story of the Cartwright family, owner of a Ranch called La Ponderosa, located in the mountainous region of Sierra Nevada in Nevada, in the 1860s. The series features Lorne Greene in the role of Ben Cartwright, the family patriarch, with Michael Landon, Dan Blocker and Pernell Roberts in the roles of her sons Adam, Hoss and Little Joe, respectively.

The series was very popular during the 1960s and won several prizes, notably the Primetime Emmy Award for the best director for a dramatic series in 1961 and 1963. It was also nominated for the Golden Globe for best actor in a television series for Lorne Greene in 1962 and 1963. The series was broadcast in many countries and has been translated into several languages.

The credits of the series, which includes a song of the same name interpreted by Johnny Cash, has become one of the best known in television history. The series also inspired several spin-offs, notably the Virginian television series, which was broadcast from 1962 to 1971.

Over the years, Bonanza has been largely recognized as one of the first television series to represent the main characters in a positive and balanced way, with actors of different ethnic breeds and origins playing main roles. The series was also welcomed for its realistic and equitable treatment of social and political problems of the time, notably the Civil War and the Rights of Women.

Although the series ended many years ago, it continues to be broadcast around the world and remains one of the most popular and influential in television history.
