Synopsis

This series features the adventures of the Ricks family: the father, Porter, head of the Coral Key water park in Florida and his two sons, Sandy and Bud. But the real hero of the series is Flipper, a large dolphin tamed by Bud, which helps swimmers in difficulty or the shipwrecked.

Flipper is an American television series broadcast between 1964 and 1967. She staged the adventures of a dolphin named Flipper and a 12 -year -old boy named Sandy Ricks, who live together in the Keys of Florida. The series was partly filmed in Florida and partly in California.

Flipper was a popular series with children and young adolescents of the time, and she helped strengthen the love of Americans for dolphins and marine life in general. The series was inspired by the 1963 film "Flipper", which was also a success.

The series follows the adventures of Sandy, who spends her summer vacation in the Keys with his uncle Porter Ricks, who is the curator of the Coral Key Marine Park. Sandy is a curious and resourceful boy, who spends his time exploring the islands, diving and swimming with pinball. Flipper is an intelligent and friendly dolphin, who has a special relationship with Sandy and often helps him in his adventures.

Flipper and Sandy are often involved in dangerous situations, such as storms, fires, shipwrecks and shark attacks. Flipper often uses his intelligence and aquatic capacities to get them out of these difficult situations, and the two become faithful friends.

The series was broadcast for three seasons, and was followed by several films and derivative series, including "Flipper and Lopaka" in 2000 and "Flipper: New Adventures" in 1995. It also inspired many derivatives, such as books , toys and clothes.

Trivia

Flipper was played by three dolphins named Mitzi, Little Bit, and Mr. Gipper. Mitzi did the close-up shots, but she wasn't very athletic, so Little Bit and Mr. Gipper did the stunt work. All three were trained by Milton Santini, a commercial fisherman who started working with dolphins after accidentally injuring one in a fishing net.
