The American television series Serpico is an adaptation of the film of the same name, which itself was inspired by the true story of Frank Serpico, a police officer from New York who worked during the 1960s and 1970s. In the series, the Actor David Birney embodies the main character, Frank Serpico, an idealistic and honest police officer who fights against corruption within the New York police.

While working on the streets of the city, Serpico realizes that many of his colleagues are involved in illegal activities, such as accepting bribes or protecting drug traffickers. Despite the threats and pressures he undergoes, Serpico refuses to be corrupted and continues to investigate.

Throughout the series, Serpico is faced with many obstacles and has to face the violence and corruption that reign in the streets of New York. With the help of a few loyal colleagues, he manages to bring down several corrupt police members, but it costs him dearly: he is injured in a shooting and is ostracized by his colleagues.

Despite everything, Serpico continues to fight corruption and highlight the injustices that occur in New York police. His perseverance ends up paying, and he is finally recognized for his efforts and for having made the city a little safer for the inhabitants. The series ends with a positive note, with Serpico who continues to work for justice and to protect citizens from New York.

The real Franck Serpico currently lives in Switzerland and still has a contract of the American mafia. He has many times moved to various countries especially in South America before finding refuge with Swiss authorities under a pseudonym.
