Father Ted is a British-Irish comic television series created by Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews. The series follows the adventures of three Catholic priests living on a fictitious island called Craggy Island, Ireland. The main character is Father Ted Crilly, an irresponsible and casual priest who is forced to cohabit with two of his colleagues: Father Dougal McGuire, a young naive and stupid priest, and Father Jack Hackett, an old alcoholic and coarse priest.

The series was broadcast for the first time in Ireland in 1995, before going to the British channel Channel 4. It was a great success with the public and was hailed by criticism for its absurd humor and its satire of religion and the life of the Irish island.
