The billionaire dies and Michael works for his organization, the foundation, led by Devon Miles. The strange tandem therefore leaves on the roads of America to restore justice ...

K2000 is an American television series created by Glen A. Larson and broadcast between 1982 and 1986. The series follows the adventures of Michael Knight, a former police officer who became a secret agent for the secret Knight foundation organization.

At the start of the series, Michael Knight was seriously injured during a mission for the Knight Foundation. In order to save it, its mentor, Wilton Knight, uses advanced technology to replace its internal organs and cure it. Wilton Knight dies shortly after, leaving Michael Knight alone to continue the mission of the Knight Foundation: fight crime and protect the innocent people.

Michael Knight then receives a new partner, an autonomous vehicle called Kitt, which is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence and an arsenal of high-tech weapons. With Kitt by his side, Michael Knight faces many criminals and terrorists, while facing internal enemies within the Knight Foundation.

Over the seasons, Michael Knight and Kitt meet many allies and enemies, such as Bonnie Barstow, Kitt's mechanic, Devon Miles, the director of the Knight Foundation, and Karr, an autonomous vehicle created by the Knight Foundation but corrupt by Artificial intelligence. They also face powerful criminals such as Garthe Knight, the son of Wilton Knight, and the meteor foundation, an international terrorist organization.

The series ends with a dramatic note when Kitt is seriously damaged during a mission and Michael Knight is forced to make a difficult choice to save his friend. Despite this, he continues to fight crime and protect the innocent people.

Trivia

A spin OFF of the series or a TV movie is currently being filming with the title: "Kickin It, Old School" (as in the good old days) with David Hasselhoff and Kitt. And another film will be in apparently filming, from the next Anne (2007) but this time without David H., since it would take a younger actor.

Kitt's original voice is that of William Daniels, but in French is that of Guy Chapelier. He decided to give him a "human" voice and not a robot voice as the Americans would have liked.

The technicians of the series had nicknamed Kitt "mother-in-law" because of the incessant remarks towards Michael (the hero). Two Pontiac Trans AM Model were used: Driving by David Hasselhoff (very heavy because as we saw it with its dashboard), the other much lighter for waterfalls and driving by Bill Shelley. He headed the vehicle when he seemed to be a driver. Model 2 was doped and reinforced (chassis and amounts). Note that Bill Shelley had himself built a launching ramp on adjustable cylinders according to the planned jumps.

Kitt, which means Knight Two-Thousand Industries, was a customized Pontiac. She was recently re-designed by General Motors, from Mondèle from the 1970s. It was the company of George Barris, creator of the Batmobile (among others), who took care of it.

K.I.T.T. was to bear the name of T.A.T.T. Originally (Trans Am Two Thousand). Source: Glen A. Larson, Preface of "Knight Rider Legacy"

Glen A. Larson brought the idea of the red diodes in a facade of the car of one of its previous series, Battlestar Galactica. The cyclones, characters from this science fiction series, had a system similar to the place of the eyes, and Larson decided to adapt the concept to Kitt.

Originally, Kitt presented a red square light on the dashboard, which turned on when she spoke. The 'more known' modulator 'had 3 red lines divided into cells, turned upside down in the bottom depending on the voice, and was introduced in the middle of the 1st season.

The Constructor Pontiac, which provided the car for the series, was overwhelmed with commands for a model identical to Kitt.

1 TV movie: K2000, the new weapon (Knight Rider 2000), broadcast for the first time with us on December 30, 1995 on TF1 and released on video at Universal/CIC in 1992

1 "Remake" series: Code name: TKR (Team Knight Rider), produced from 1997 to 1998 (22 episodes from 45mn) and of which 4 episodes were broadcast in April 2000 on TF1 (all on TF6 in 2000/2001)

There is also a TV movie vaguely inspired by the original series: K2010, the weapon of the future (Knight Rider 2010), produced in 1994 and released with us on video at Universal, in the VĂ©toons collection

One of the cars used during the series is to host Vincent Perrot.

The choice of transam is actually pure chance. Indeed the Pontiac used are cars recovered from a train accident, and the producers had them for a low cost.

In one of the episodes, Kitt was opposed to his evil double called Karr.

Karr means Knight Automatic Roving Robot
