Edward Asner est né le 15 novembre 1929 à Kansas City. Edward Asner est surtout connu pour son rôle de Lou Grant dans les séries TV Mary Tyler Moore et Lou Grant. Ce rôle lui permettra de gagner plusieurs Emmy Awards et Golden Globe. Edward Asner est un acteur américain connu pour son travail dans la télévision et le cinéma. Il est né le 15 novembre 1929 à Kansas City, Missouri, aux États-Unis. Il a commencé sa carrière d'acteur dans les années 1950 en jouant dans des pièces de théâtre à Broadway, avant de se tourner vers le petit écran.
Il est devenu célèbre grâce à son rôle de Lou Grant dans la série télévisée "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" dans les années 1970. Il a remporté un Emmy Award pour ce rôle en 1975 et en 1977. Il a ensuite joué le même personnage dans la série spin-off "Lou Grant", qui lui a valu deux autres Emmy Awards en 1979 et 1980.
Asner a également joué dans de nombreux films, dont "The Front Runner" (1974), "El Diablo" (1990) et "Up" (2009), pour lequel il a remporté un Oscar du meilleur acteur dans un rôle de soutien pour sa performance en tant que voix de Carl Fredricksen.
En plus de sa carrière d'acteur, Asner est également un militant politique actif et un défenseur des droits des travailleurs. Il a été président de la Screen Actors Guild de 1981 à 1985 et a été impliqué dans plusieurs causes sociales et politiques au fil des ans.
