Larry Hagman était un acteur américain connu pour son rôle dans la série télévisée "Dallas" dans lequel il interprétait J.R. Ewing, un personnage controversé et manipulateur. Hagman est également connu pour avoir joué dans la série "I Dream of Jeannie", dans laquelle il incarnait le personnage de Tony Nelson.
Hagman est né le 21 septembre 1931 à Fort Worth, Texas. Il a grandi à Weatherford, au Texas, où il a fréquenté la Weatherford High School. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, il a étudié l'art dramatique à l'Université du Texas à Austin.
Hagman a commencé sa carrière d'acteur au début des années 1950. Il a joué dans plusieurs pièces de théâtre, notamment dans "The Taming of the Shrew" et "South Pacific". Sa première apparition à la télévision remonte à 1955, dans une série intitulée "Goodyear Playhouse". Dans les années 1960, il a joué dans plusieurs séries télévisées, dont "The Edge of Night" et "The Beverly Hillbillies".
En 1965, Hagman a obtenu le rôle qui allait devenir sa performance la plus célèbre : celui de Tony Nelson dans la série "I Dream of Jeannie". La série a été un succès et Hagman a remporté un Emmy Award en 1966 pour sa performance. Après la fin de la série en 1970, Hagman a continué à travailler dans le monde du divertissement, en apparaissant dans des films et des séries télévisées.
En 1978, Hagman a été choisi pour incarner J.R. Ewing dans la série "Dallas". La série a connu un vif succès et est devenue l'une des plus populaires de l'époque. Hagman a joué dans la série pendant 13 saisons et a remporté deux Golden Globe Awards pour son rôle. La série a été diffusée dans le monde entier et a contribué à la célébrité de Hagman.
Hagman est décédé le 23 novembre 2012, à l'âge de 81 ans. Sa mort a été annoncée par sa famille, qui a indiqué qu'il était décédé des suites d'un cancer du foie. Sa carrière d'acteur a été saluée par ses collègues et il est considéré comme l'un des acteurs les plus talentueux et les plus populaires de sa génération.
