Apple Vision Pro Launch: Release Date and Pre-Orders

The Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which was first unveiled at WWDC 2023 in June, is scheduled to launch on Friday, February 2. Pre-orders will open on Friday, January 19 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. Initial availability will be limited to the U.S., with plans to expand to more countries later this year. Pricing starts at $3,499 with 256GB of storage, and optional ZEISS optical inserts will be available for $99 to $149. Apple is referring to the Vision Pro as a “spatial computer,” offering a blend of augmented reality and virtual reality features. The headset is powered by an all-new visionOS operating system, which can be controlled using a user’s eyes, hands, and voice.

Apple also revealed the contents of the Vision Pro package, which will include two head bands (Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band), light seal cushions, a front glass cover, a polishing cloth, an external battery pack, a USB-C power adapter, and a USB-C charging cable.

Files related to the Vision Pro in Xcode 15.2 indicate that the headset will be equipped with 16GB of unified memory. This confirms previous reports by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and aligns with the amount of memory included in Vision Pro development kits.
