David Cross: Pourquoi la série “Guru Nation” a-t-elle été annulée par Paramount+ ?

David Cross and Bob Odenkirk’s “Guru Nation” Series Cancelled

David Cross and Bob Odenkirk announced plans to reunite for the docu-style Paramount+ comedy “Guru Nation,” in which they were cast as rival cult gurus manipulating the minds of their followers. Despite the excitement surrounding the show, it was ultimately scrapped due to the rejection by the marketing and analytics department.

Cross and Odenkirk had written and developed the show as an eight-episode limited series that sparked a bidding war between four different networks. However, Paramount+ decided to pull the plug on the project after initially showing interest.

During a podcast appearance, Cross expressed disappointment over the decision, attributing it to the lack of understanding and vision from the marketing department. This incident served as a reminder of the significant influence these departments have over development decisions.

Cross emphasized the frustration of having a promising concept rejected due to the inability of the marketing team to envision its potential success. He highlighted the imbalance of power within the industry, where marketing departments hold sway over creative development.

Variety reached out to Paramount+ and Cross for further comments on the cancellation of the series, but no response has been provided yet. Despite this setback, fans can still watch Cross’ full podcast appearance on “Whiskey Ginger” for more insights into the project.
