The trailer for the final six episodes of The Crown is here, and it’s promising to be a love letter to the Queen according to creator Peter Morgan.

The final episodes will define the prestige royal saga that has been on screens since 2016 and will revolve around Queen Elizabeth, portrayed by Imelda Staunton.

A Poignant Moment

In a poignant moment that speaks to the late Queen, The Crown‘s monarch says, “I will always be by your side.”

The series paused filming on the final season when Queen Elizabeth II died on Sept. 8, 2022 at the age of 96.

The Final Season

The trailer opens with William feigning smiles for a royal family portrait and pushing back against his father, then-Prince Charles (Dominic West), in the wake of his mother Princess Diana’s untimely death.

The final season was split into two parts, the first batch of episodes covered Princess Diana, and part two — which releases on Dec. 14 — set to span the years 1997 through 2005.

New Characters

Part two introduces a grown-up Prince William and Prince Harry (played by Rufus Kampa and Fflyn Edwards, respectively) and will introduce Meg Bellamy as the highly anticipated Kate Middleton.

Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother’s death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion.

The Ensemble

The ensemble cast also includes Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne and Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair.
