Destin d’Iris Maplewood : découvrez sa conclusion

Netflix’s Bodies is a captivating murder mystery series that has taken the streaming world by storm. The central puzzle revolves around a naked, eye-shot corpse found on a London street across four different time periods: 1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053. As the detectives investigate this baffling case, each time frame unveils a unique glimpse into the society of that era. From the Victorian repression of DI Hillinghead to the dystopian “United Britain” governed by Elias Mannix, the series explores the intricate web of history and deceit.

A Sinister Manipulation of Time

Over the course of eight gripping episodes, we uncover the hidden truths behind the murder mystery. It is revealed that Elias Mannix, the master manipulator, has been orchestrating events throughout history to consolidate his power. The bomb explosion in 2023, which altered society and led to Mannix’s rise, was one of his malevolent deeds. Furthermore, in Episode 6, “The World Is Yours,” we learn that DC Iris Maplewood, the investigator of the case, unintentionally becomes the killer she is attempting to apprehend. Her actions result in multiple versions of the victim’s body scattered across the four timelines.

A Race Against Time in Victorian London

In a desperate attempt to foil Mannix’s plans, Maplewood embarks on a mission to Victorian London. But she faces a monumental challenge—the time travelers arrive at their destinations completely naked, and she no longer has access to the futuristic technology that would allow her to blend in. This limitation intensifies the already precarious situation, as she navigates the past in pursuit of justice.

The Ripple Effect and a Bittersweet Resolution

An older iteration of Mannix is eventually convinced to alter his past actions by manipulating the recordings he made for his younger self. This decision triggers a reset of events, with the detectives in each timeline blissfully unaware of their involvement in the mystery. The puzzle is unraveled, catastrophe is averted, and yet, as we witness in the final episode, “Know You Are Loved,” something is still amiss in the present-day timeline.

A Cryptic Ending with Infinite Possibilities

The conclusion of Bodies leaves us with more questions than answers, as Shahara Hasan, the police officer in 2023, embarks on an ordinary day without the discovery of the body. Instead, she hops into a taxi and engages in casual conversation with the driver, who is revealed to be none other than Iris Maplewood herself, transported from the future. This shocking encounter raises numerous possibilities and sets the stage for a potential second season.

Series writer Paul Tomalin explains that this deliberately ambiguous ending is meant to provoke curiosity and speculation. Maplewood’s presence in 2023 begs the question of why she is there and what her intentions may be. Tomalin hints at the tantalizing ideas that could be explored in future episodes, keeping audiences on tenterhooks with the promise of further unraveling the mysteries of Bodies.
