In a recent speech, Donald Trump continued to recycle old material in his attacks on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. The late-night host Stephen Colbert, however, was not impressed by Trump’s lack of originality.

During his campaign rally speech in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trump referred to Harris as “Lyin’ Harris,” spelling out each letter, which Colbert mocked on The Late Show. Trump also used his old Apprentice catchphrase, “You’re fired!”, much to Colbert’s amusement.

Trump’s obsession with Hannibal Lecter

Colbert also highlighted Trump’s strange obsession with Hannibal Lecter, pointing out the president’s confusion between real stories and movies. Trump’s continued references to old pop culture references, like calling J.D. Vance his running mate and rumors about Vance having sex with a couch, were also mocked by Colbert.

Despite fact-checking by the Associated Press and confirmation that the rumor about Vance and the couch was false, Colbert used this story to underscore the importance of journalism and stopping the spread of misinformation.
