Kevin Williamson’s Latest TV Series “The Waterfront” to Film in Wilmington

Kevin Williamson is back in Wilmington to shoot his new TV series, “The Waterfront,” which will be set in North Carolina. The show, produced by Universal Studio Group in collaboration with Williamson’s Outerbanks Entertainment production company, is currently in pre-production and is set to start filming later this year at Cinespace Studios on 23rd Street.

“The Waterfront” follows the story of the Buckley family, owners of a fading North Carolina fishing empire, as they struggle to revive their maritime heritage. While the cast has not yet been revealed, Williamson, a native of New Bern, is credited as the writer of the series.

This isn’t the first time Kevin Williamson has returned to Wilmington for a project since his days working on “Dawson’s Creek.” In recent years, he has been involved in various TV and movie productions in the area, such as the latest installment of the “Scream” movie franchise and the horror film “The Exorcism,” starring Russell Crowe.

As Wilmington experiences a resurgence in film and TV productions, with projects like “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “The Runarounds” currently being filmed in the city, “The Waterfront” is expected to add to the growing list of entertainment offerings set in this picturesque location. With Wilmington becoming a hub for both established and up-and-coming filmmakers, the future looks bright for the local entertainment industry.
