Disney’s Wish: Where has it gone?

Disney’s Wish has disappeared from the limelight after being hyped up as one of the studio’s most anticipated animated features. Despite being released for digital purchase, it is taking longer than expected for Disney+ subscribers to access the film.

Chris Buck’s film has become somewhat forgotten after the festive season, and the delayed home release of the movie is causing speculation about the future of this animated masterpiece.

Where On Earth is Wish?

It seems the Wish movie will have a physical release in March with some extra features. According to Collider, the film has been available on digital platforms since January 23, 2024, but Disney has not made it accessible on its streaming service. This is unusual given the pattern seen with previous releases.

Wish was expected to follow the fate of other moderately successful Disney movies such as Encanto and Turning Red, both of which became big hits once they were available for home media. So why is Disney delaying the release of this recent creation?

What’s the Reason Behind the Delay?

It is possible that the film did not meet the company’s expectations, leading to a conscious effort to delay its release and save face. Despite being promoted as an homage to classic Disney movies, it may not have resonated with a broad audience.

Although not a failure, Wish might not have been the success Disney hoped for. However, its arrival on Disney+ is inevitable and will showcase the highs and lows of Disney animation. Fans will have to wait a little longer for its release on the streaming service, but it will eventually come.
