Le retour de Werewolf by Night sur Disney+ en octobre, mais en couleur

Marvel Studios is set to re-release its 2022 television special “Werewolf by Night” on Disney+ this October. The original show was presented in black-and-white, but the re-release will feature the show in color. This decision adds a new dimension to the show’s viewing experience, making it even more enticing to watch.

A Halloween Treat from Marvel Studios

October is infamous for its Halloween and horror-themed experiences, including movies and television shows. Now, Marvel Studios has decided to throw its hat into the ring and re-release its horror special Werewolf by Night. The show, which first came out last October, will arrive on Disney+ on October 20. Even better, the re-release will be in color, unlike the original special which was in monochrome.

When it came out last year, Werewolf by Night received positive reviews from critics who praised its black-and-white cinematography, performances, and directing, among other aspects. The black-and-white cinematography gave it the vibe of the classic Universal Monsters films, making it the perfect Halloween show.

A Colorful Revamp for a Chilling Tale

Marvel’s decision to release Werewolf by Night in color may seem puzzling given its initial success in black and white. However, we cannot help but be excited to see how this new visual treatment will enhance the show’s experience. The addition of color is expected to bring a whole new level of vibrancy to the horror-filled narrative, making it even more captivating and engaging for the audience.

Werewolf by Night is based on a Marvel Comics character of the same name and tells the story of a monster hunter named Jack Russell, who himself is a monster. The show’s synopsis promises a dark and mysterious tale that revolves around a secret cabal of monster hunters and their deadly competition for a powerful relic. This hunt will ultimately lead them face to face with a dangerous monster.

A Creative Team Behind the Scenes

The 53-minute-long special features a stellar cast including Gael Garcia Bernal, Laura Donnelly, Harriet Sansom Harris, Kirk R. Thatcher, Eugenie Bodurant, Leonardo Nam, and Daniel J. Watts, among others. Oscar-winning director Michael Giacchino helmed the special and also composed its score. Giacchino expressed excitement about the color version, stating that they wanted to pay homage to the vibrant color in horror films like those made by Hammer.

Heather Quinn came up with the story, and together with Peter Cameron, developed the teleplay. The film was produced by Leeann Stonebreaker, with Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Brad Winderbaum serving as executive producers.

A Shift in Marvel’s Strategy

Werewolf by Night’s darker tone and departure from the usual Marvel content was well-received by audiences and critics alike, suggesting a potential shift in Marvel’s strategy. Alongside other grim-tone projects like Moon Knight and the upcoming vampire movie Blade, this special represents a new direction for Marvel. As audiences may be developing superhero fatigue, incorporating more diverse and captivating shows like Werewolf by Night can help keep them engaged and entertained.

Werewolf by Night in Color will be available to stream on Disney+ starting October 20. If you can’t wait, the original black-and-white version is already available on Hulu as part of their Huluween lineup. Get ready for a thrilling and visually stunning Halloween treat!
