Mayim Bialik n’hébergera pas ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ la prochaine saison.

Mayim Bialik will not be hosting the upcoming Celebrity Jeopardy! tournament, and Ken Jennings will be replacing her. The reason for Bialik’s absence from the new season is due to the ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. Bialik, who is a member of the SAG, stepped away from her hosting duties in solidarity with those on strike. In her absence, Jennings filled in for the remaining episodes of Season 39 and will now do the same for Celebrity Jeopardy!, set to return on September 27th.

Backlash and “Scab” Accusations

Jennings’ decision to continue hosting following Bialik’s absence has received backlash from some fans and former players. Wil Wheaton, a former champion, referred to him as a “scab.” Bialik has not publicly commented on her decision to step away from Jeopardy!, but it has been reported that she declined an invitation to host the upcoming Celebrity edition due to the ongoing strikes.

Recycled Material for Season 40

The showrunner of Jeopardy!, Michael Davies, confirmed that Season 40 will continue with recycled material and material written before the WGA strike. The season will begin with a Second Chance tournament featuring Season 37 contestants, followed by a Champions Wild Card series. The winners from the Second Chance competition will face off against former Season 38 champions.

The New Hosts

Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings were announced as the new hosts of Jeopardy! in July 2022 after the passing of Alex Trebek. Bialik also hosted Celebrity Jeopardy! and other spin-offs, while Jennings hosted various tournaments. As long as the strikes continue, it seems that Jennings will host all future episodes and tournaments until the issues are resolved.

In the meantime, Bialik continues to release new episodes of her podcast, Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, where she discusses mental health issues with her guests. Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 2 will premiere on September 27th on ABC.
