‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ 50th Anniversary: Expanded Soundtrack
In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the Peanuts TV special, an expanded soundtrack for “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” has been released. The album, originally composed by the late jazz artist and keyboardist Vince Guaraldi, has been restored, remixed and remastered, featuring a total of 21 tracks. Nearly half of these tracks have never been released before.
Guaraldi’s iconic tunes emit the cozy holiday atmosphere, making them perfect as background music or to be played on their own to appreciate the evolution of these compositions, most of which come with multiple takes. Guaraldi is joined by fellow musicians Seward McCain on electric bass, Mike Clark on drums, Tom Harrell on trumpet, and Chuck Bennett on trombone, who have explored the tunes in various configurations, including overdubs.
The expanded soundtrack includes new renditions of familiar tunes such as “Thanksgiving Theme” and “Linus and Lucy,” as well as a brief jam featuring only Guaraldi and Clark. Additionally, it includes five versions of “Thanksgiving Interlude,” one of which was the 17th and final take used in the show.
