Paramount Global has announced the 9 writers participating in their Paramount Writers Mentoring Program for 2024-2025

Paramount Global has revealed the names of the nine chosen writers who will take part in the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program for the 2024-2025 period. This program, now in its 20th year, aims to provide tailored mentorship, career development, and support to new writers in television, with the end goal of launching their professional careers in the industry.

Overview of the Program

The Paramount Writers Mentoring Program is an eight-month-long initiative that offers selected writers access to mentorships, personal access to decision-makers in the television industry, and career development opportunities. The program, led by the Paramount Office of Global Inclusion, is designed to provide invaluable experience and exposure to the inner workings of the television business.

Throughout the program’s duration, participants will partake in small workshop-style meetings with showrunners, executive producers, agents, managers, and other industry executives. This exposure is meant to give the writers a comprehensive understanding of how the television business operates. Pairing up with mentors from Paramount studio brands, the participants will engage in regular meetings to discuss their work and receive feedback and advice to advance their professional journey.

The Group of Mentors

The group of mentors for this year’s program is comprised of esteemed professionals from the television industry, including managers, directors, and VPs from CBS and Paramount. Their wealth of experience and knowledge will serve as an invaluable resource for the participating writers, offering guidance and support as they navigate their way through the program and the industry at large.

Program Impact and Participants

The impact of the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program extends far beyond the organization, resonating throughout the broader industry. In a statement, Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i, executive vice president of diversity and inclusion, west coast at Paramount, expressed her confidence in the selected participants and the impact they will have on the industry. This year’s participants were chosen from a pool of over 2,500 applicants, each coming from diverse creative backgrounds and having worked on a variety of television projects.

Notably, the program has been instrumental in launching the careers of 101 writers in television, contributing to the staffing of numerous successful shows. Alumni of the program have gone on to make significant contributions to the industry, working on acclaimed shows such as “Snowfall,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” among others.
