Préférence des adolescents : Streaming sur YouTube avant Netflix, selon une étude récente.

YouTube surpasses Netflix in popularity among American teenagers, according to a recent survey conducted by investment bank Piper Sandler. The 46th semi-annual survey, conducted in September 2023, polled nearly 10,000 members of Generation Z across 49 states, with an average age between 15 and 16 years old.
The Rise of YouTube
The survey revealed that American teens now spend 29.1% of their daily video consumption time on YouTube, surpassing the previously dominant Netflix which came in at 28.7%. The popularity of YouTube has been steadily increasing, while Netflix has seen a decline of over two percentage points since the spring. Hulu secured third place with a 7% share, while Prime Video and Disney+ experienced growth in time share.
Changing Consumption Habits
Analysts from Piper Sandler speculate that the rise in YouTube’s popularity may be attributed to the increasing competition in the streaming industry, as well as the improving content available on the platform. With an abundance of choices, teenagers seem to be gravitating towards YouTube for their video entertainment needs. The survey also highlighted a decrease in time spent on cable TV, HBO Max, and Hulu compared to previous findings.
Overall, this survey indicates a significant shift in the preferences of American teenagers, reflecting their inclination towards the diverse and readily available content on YouTube.
