Despite already wrapping up production, Disney made the decision to cancel The Spiderwick Chronicles amidst ongoing Writers’ and Actors’ strikes and concerns about streaming numbers and profitability. This cancellation is part of Disney’s larger content write-off, which was announced in May.
Disney’s strategic changes in content curation led to the removal of various original series and specials from Disney+ and Hulu.
