L’acteur de Percy Jackson révèle la raison inquiétante du changement de trait clé du personnage

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Actor Criticizes Disney+ Adaptation for Dropping Key Character Trait
Aryan Samhadri, actor behind Grover in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, has spoken out against a major change made to his character for the Disney+ adaptation.
Despite the show’s initial success and well-received launch, Grover’s dietary habits were significantly altered in the adaptation, which has naturally led to some criticism from fans who know the novels well.
Concern for Younger Audiences Prompts Change
In the original novels, Grover was known for his primary diet of aluminum and tin cans. However, for the Disney+ adaptation, the showrunners made the decision to eliminate this characteristic in order to avoid influencing younger children to engage in similar eating habits.
Aryan Samhadri stated in an interview that the decision was made out of concern for the show’s younger audience members. “Because you know, a lot of younger kids are going to be watching the show, and we don’t really want any eight-year-olds eating tin cans,” he explained.
So, in order to cater to the sensibilities of younger viewers, the show opted to portray Grover in a more audience-friendly manner.
Questionably Edible Dishes for Grover
Samhadri revealed that the show’s creatives initially had him consume mockups of tin cans in place of actual screen tests, which he admitted to getting “accustomed” to.
During production, the props team devised a fondant tin can as a substitute, which Samhadri insisted that he downed two of them. This creative solution demonstrated the lengths that the production team was willing to go in order to maintain the essence of the original character.
However, some challenges arose in terms of legal safety, with certain prop dishes and representations eventually being banned and deemed unsuitable for onscreen depictions.
Despite this, it’s clear that the show’s creatives made proactive decisions in order to appeal to their target audience.
Adaptation of the Original Story
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+ is based on author Rick Riordan’s ‘The Lightning Thief,’ which tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson. The series closely follows the storyline from the novels, and offers a different take from the 2010 film adaptation.
Season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now available for streaming on Disney+, and follows the adventure of demigod Percy Jackson as he embarks on a journey to prevent a war among the Olympian gods.
