Dana Plato was an American actress known for having played the role of Kimberly Drummond in the television series "Diff'rent Strokes". She was born on November 7, 1964 in Maywood, California, and grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Plato began her acting career from the age of five, appearing in advertisements and television series. She also played in several films, notably "Exorcist II: The Heretic" and "Return to Boggy Creek".
Plato obtained her first main role in the series "DIFF'RENT Strokes" in 1978, where she played the role of Kimberly Drummond, the adopted daughter of a white billionaire. The series was a great success and Plato has become a television star. However, she had a hard time finding roles after the end of the series in 1986. She made appearances in television series and films, but never found the same popularity as at the time of " DIFF'RENT Strokes ".
Unfortunately, Plato’s life has been marked by many personal and professional problems. She was arrested for theft in 1991 and was sentenced to a probation sentence. It has also been involved in several car accidents and has suffered from drug and alcohol problems. In 1999, she was found dead in her house in Las Vegas, victim of an overdose of drugs. She was 34 years old.
Beyond her acting career, Plato remains best known for her personal problems and the tragedy of her premature death. His life and death have been a tragic recall of the difficulties that children can encounter when they grow up and try to build an adult life.
