Biography for Richard Dean Anderson

Richard Dean Anderson (born January 23, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American actor who started his acting career in soap opera (appearing on General Hospital as Dr. Jeff Webber from 1976 to 1981), but came to fame with the hit television series MacGyver.

He currently stars in the series Stargate SG-1 as General (formerly Colonel) Jack O'Neill, based on the movie Stargate starring Kurt Russell. Although he has never married he has a daughter (Wylie Quinn Annarose) by his one-time partner Apryl Prose.

In Season 8, he opted to have a reduced role in the Stargate SG-1 series due to his reduced availability. As of December, 2004, it is unknown how limited his role will be for the show's 9th (and possibly final) season.

Anderson appears in the 1997 PC game Fallout as the voice of Killian Darkwater.
