Brooklyn South is an American television series which was broadcast for the first time in September 1997. The series takes place in the Brooklyn district of New York, and follows the adventures of the members of the 75th Police Brigade in Brooklyn. The show was created by David Milch and Bill Clark, and was produced by Steven Bochco. Brooklyn South stages a group of police officers who have to face violence and different forms of crime that rages in the neighborhood. The series follows the investigations carried out by the police and their personal life outside of work. Brooklyn South was acclaimed by criticism for its careful realization and its solid interpretation. The series was nominated for several prizes, including an Emmy Award for the best dramatic television series. Unfortunately, Brooklyn South did not have great commercial success and lasted only one season before being canceled. Despite this, Brooklyn South was greeted as one of the most realistic and complex police series to have been broadcast on television. The series was rented for its realistic approach to social problems and human relations, and for its way of showing the difficulties faced by the police in their daily work. Finally, Brooklyn South was greeted for her excellent casting, with remarkable performances from Michael Deluise, Jon Tenney, Jay Mohr and Kelly Hu.
