The adventures of Dick Le Rebelle (also known as Dick Turpin) was an American television series which was broadcast for the first time in 1979. The series featured Michael Praed in the role of Dick Turpin, a famous thief and Out of the 18th century in England. The story of the series took place mainly in the region of the counties of Hertfordshire and Essex, in England, and followed the adventures of Turpin and his acolyte, the faithful Tom King (interpreted by Tony Selby). Together, they were known for their daring exploits and their spectacular prison escapes, and they were chased by local sheriff, Mr. Tibbett (played by David Daker). The series was very popular during its initial broadcast, partly thanks to the performance of Michael Praed in the role of Dick Turpin. She was also greeted for her faithful reconstruction of the time, with historically precise costumes and decorations. Despite its popularity, the adventures of Dick Le Rebelle was only broadcast for a single season, made up of 26 episodes. Since its original broadcast, the series has been repeatedly rebroadcast in many countries, and has acquired a cult status among fans of historical television.
